The purpose of the Kansas Energy Council (KEC), as established in Executive Order 08-06, is to consider and recommend strategies to:
- ensure a low-cost, reliable, and sustainable energy supply;
- increase energy efficiency and conservation;
- develop a balanced renewable energy policy;
- extend the life of existing energy resources, and
- enhance energy-related research and development.
The Council has adopted an ongoing yearly planning schedule to develop background information and policy recommendations on priority topics, which are published each year in the Kansas Energy Report.

- The KEC will hold its final Public Hearing in Wichita, next Tuesday, September 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Click here to view news release.
- KEC Opens Public Comment Period – The KEC welcomes written public comment on its preliminary policy recommendations, from September 11, 2008, to October 10, 2008. As part of this process, the KEC will hold public hearings in Hays on September 19, and Wichita on September 30. Click here for more information about procedures for submitting written comment.
